The Web Developer / Webmaster is a unique opportunity for an individual looking to use their technical skills as part of a growing marketing team. This person will be responsible for owning the company’s website mission of driving organic traffic and improving onsite conversions of sales and leads. This will include developing and maintaining the company’s websites including IBISWorld.com (and other local IBISWorld domains) and ProcurementIQ.com

The Web Developer / Webmaster will need to be familiar with on-site SEO best practices, be highly competent with Webmaster tools, and be familiar with other web analytics and SEO tools that ensure optimal website performance. This individual will need to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the Content and Creative team to ensure engaging content is positioned to drive lead and sales conversions. 

Web Development Responsibilities:

  • Translate website designs into efficient code using standard HTML, CSS, JavaScript practices
  • Oversee development of any changes or updates to company websites, working with web designers and other developers.
  • Effectively translate business cases for new features and functionality into high performing, responsive websites.
  • Run website A/B testing to optimize website user flows.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Research and evaluate the latest development technologies (including open source libraries and 3rd party products) for inclusion in the development process. Maintain software documentation.

Webmaster Responsibilities:

  • Debug issues that arise with the performance of company websites; investigate, troubleshoot and find solutions to issues.
  • Oversee transition of websites to Umbraco CMS (ASP.NET Open Source CMS).
  • Manage and report on website performance and security for IBISWorld and ProcurementIQ website properties, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Work with the Marketing team to identify ways to increase website traffic and move users through the web journey as easily as possible to convert visitors to leads and/or customers.
  • Review website analytics, working with Marketing team to translate traffic trends into practical solutions

 

SEO & Analysis Responsibilities:

  • Work with Content team to implement on-site SEO best practices; generate valuable SEO insights to guide content strategies and execution.
  • Monitor Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Moz and other tools daily to identify potential SEO issues.
  • Work with web designers and strategists to improve the layout, navigation, and display of a web site to enhance its search engine ranking. 

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2 - 3+ years of experience in a web development role and 2+ years
  • Excellent programming skills / experience in the following: HTML, JavaScript, PHP, CSS, jQuery, HTML5, Bootstrap
  • Experience with server-side frameworks, particularly ASP.NET, SQL and Visual Studio 2008 - 2013
  • Capable of developing custom solutions within open web content management systems (CMS).
  • Advanced knowledge with SEO tools and on-site SEO best practices, including tools such as Google Webmaster Guidelines, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Robots.txt, Structure Data, DNS and Hosting set ups
  • Natural affinity for website UX/UI and knowledge of responsive design
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong quantitative orientation
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Commercial mindset; ability to think of creative solutions to business problems and challenges
  • Highly organized and autonomous, but also collaborative and able to work cross-functionally
  • Comfortable and energized operating in a fast-paced environment; passionate about the product and seeks continuous improvement
