The Digital Media team at HBO is growing as we prepare to bring our fans new programming across all genres throughout 2019.   With a focus on engagement, driving tune-in and marketing technology, we’re doing some new things to create innovative consumer experiences tied to programming and the HBO brand. As marketing becomes more reliant on data to reach consumers with targeted messaging, we are injecting new skills into our organization that will arm us with insights and creative intelligence about those who follow and love the stories we tell.

THE ROLE 

Manager, Technical Campaign Operations

Responsible for ensuring the delivery of HBO’s data-driven marketing campaigns, this role will be the critical bridge between our marketing strategy and the enabling of data and technology needed to execute against it.
The individual in this role will coordinate the timely send of trigger-based email and push campaigns, the supply of data to media agencies and publishing partners (e.g. Facebook), and the flow of data through the marketing technology ecosystem (including a new messaging platform and DMP).  
In addition to supporting the day-to-day operational needs of the marketing team, this individual will design and consult on testing methodologies and campaign setup to help reach both acquisition and retention goals.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Manage workload among analysts and consultants.
  • Dig into data issues and problem solve using SQL.
  • Project-manage requests from retention and acquisition teams to build campaigns.
  • Translate marketing requirements into technical requirements and vice versa.
  • Design and build ad hoc, canvas (customer journey) and trigger-based campaigns through our campaign management system
  • Manage and coordinate campaign deployment.
  • Partner with data operations teams to understand the data flow and dependencies in the MarTech environment and ensure operational readiness, represent data validation requirements and address data quality issues for marketing activation.
  • Maintain closed-loop reporting pipeline to support the timely publishing of campaign reports and dashboards.
  • Identify operational analytics requirements and work with data operations teams to build capability and processes to support analysis.
  • Ensure data readiness of customer interaction channels; including in-app, on-site, paid media, email, mobile messaging, and more.
  • Ensure effective deployment of decisioning logic and orchestration across communications channels.
  • Understand marketing interests, interfacing between business and technical teams.
  • Facilitate the definition of the data architecture from a marketing perspective including:
    • Work with internal data delivery teams and constituents, including HBO’s technology and analytics teams.
    • Work with external partners and agencies across paid media, mobile apps, microsites and other channels.
  • Ensure timely data supply to support marketing campaign execution across marketing channels, including email, mobile messaging, and paid media.
  • Define data delivery end points for both internal and external partners

 
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

  • Hands-on experience managing data operations to support and manage marketing campaigns, ideally within a digital centric, multi-channel marketing ecosystem. Experience with Braze, Unica, Adobe Campaign Manager ideal.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of using query languages such as SQL, SAS or R
  • Experience with Email Service Providers, Data Management Platforms, Mobile Messaging Platforms and publishers like Facebook.
  • Experience with AWS products such as S3 and Redshift. Snowflake would be desirable.
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end data supply chain.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree a plus
  • Exceptionally strong analytical skills
  • Solid project management and organizations skills
