As a Marketing Associate at Code.org, you will support marketing messaging and communications across the organization. In this position, your primary responsibility will be to articulate Code.org’s message and mission in campaigns, collateral, and communication channels in support of Code.org’s education, professional development, advocacy and fundraising efforts.

As part of the marketing team, you will also assist in the planning and execution of the annual Hour of Code campaign, focusing on marketing materials and corporate engagement. The highly visible and global Hour of Code initiative encourages students to try computer science during Computer Science Education Week in December.

In this position, your responsibilities may include:

  • Creating, editing, and maintaining marketing and fundraising content on code.org, csedweek.org, and hourofcode.com websites

  • Managing online donation site and campaigns

  • Creating, editing, and maintaining marketing and fundraising materials

  • Working across different teams in the organization to keep messaging and brand consistent

  • Writing email newsletters and regular updates sent to several million teachers and supporters

  • Managing email system, including segmentation and coordination of different email lists for different purposes and regular clean-up

  • Writing, sourcing and editing impact stories or partner stories for our blog

  • Working with teams across the organization to keep central repository of statistics up to date

  • Helping fundraising manager write grant proposals and donor reports

  • Carry out various fundraising support and administrative tasks

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


To be successful in this role, you should be a self-starter, experienced in communications, who can multitask, work efficiently and excel under pressure. As our ideal candidate, you will quickly produce clear and compelling marketing copy and articulate a complicated message in an easily understandable manner with simplicity and brevity.  You’ll be tech-savvy, and able to swiftly prioritize duties as needed on multiple ongoing projects. You should be flexible and willing to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment.


As our ideal candidate, you should have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong marketing copywriting and content development experience

  • Clear understanding of what differentiates marketing writing from other writing

  • Ability to quickly identify awkward copy and clarify messaging

  • Ability to write in different voices

  • Familiar with tracking methodologies and website analytics tools

  • Proven ability to work effectively across a wide range of internal teams, and produce on deadline in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient in using Google suite of applications, presentation and layout skills

  • Keen eye for visuals and ability to create informative graphics a big plus

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in communications and technology

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, related field or equivalent work experience

  • Familiarity or background in educational communications preferred (no background in Computer Science needed)
