The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC), America’s first superhighway, is seeking an individual to join our Information Technology team as a Senior Network Engineer! Our mission is to operate a safe, reliable, customer-valued toll road system that supports national mobility and commerce.  The PTC operates a 552-mile system used by 194 million vehicles a year.  The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for monitoring and controlling the performance of the components of network facilities to achieve high quality transmission for the PTC.  Together, we are building the highway of the future! 

  Responsibilities 

  • Leads and supports lower-level staff involved with the administration of communications infrastructure. May supervise internal and external staff functions including performance management, delegation of work assignments and review of work product.
  • Monitors and controls network operations and performance by conducting status/trend monitoring and implementing upgrades to identify problems and maximize downtime avoidance.
  • Acts as a first responder for system network oriented problems. Identifies system network problems and implements bypass and recovery procedures. Initiates corrective action when a network component failure or system degradation is reported or detected by systems.
  • Assists project managers with the development, maintenance and communication of project plans, schedules, priority requirements and coordination of human and financial resources.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance regarding communication systems maintenance, upgrades and administration. Ensures security policies, designed to protect both systems and data, are followed.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electronics. 

  • Six (6) years of experience in network technologies. 

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

    Equivalent combination of experience, education and training will be considered.

Location

The position is located at the PTC’s headquarters in Middletown, PA, right outside of Pennsylvania’s capital city.  The Central PA region has plenty to offer from picturesque scenery to premier entertainment, while residents enjoy an affordable cost of living.  It is conveniently located within a few hours’ drive of popular metropolitan areas such as Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C. and New York City. 

There is a Pennsylvania residency requirement, which must be fulfilled within six months of employment
