Sr. Ruby Platform Engineer (up to $170k)

Description:

We're looking for a top caliber engineer with experience in building a data platform at internet scale. Our client's platform interacts with multitude of health/fitness devices and apps real time data streams. The ideal candidate will have top-notch skills, and preferably has experience working on early stage consumer service platforms. This is an opportunity to be part of a promising early stage startup in the exciting digital health/fitness space and to drive a new generation health/fitness platform architecture. What you'll be doing:

Architecting, building, testing and refining new products and services throughout the backend platform stack, including cache, workflow, controller, and dat
Evolving various stack components to scale and address new service requirements
Designing and developing REST API and integration points for various platform services
Brainstorming and prototyping new concepts and approaches fast
Turning prototypes into real things

Qulifications:

• Worked on large scale SOA consumer systems
• Fluency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails
• Experience with designing REST based API's for consumer based services
• At least 5 years of experience designing and building backend software platforms
• Expert knowledge in optimization and scalability using various technologies
• Experience with MySQL and MongoDB
• Able to design and write well-structured, easily maintainable, well-documented code that balances beauty and pragmatism
• Demonstrable track record building distributed, clustered, high-throughput applications
• Talent and drive to build a winning product and platform
• A team player in a flat-structured, highly collaborative agile environment is a must
• Strong academic background, preferably in Computer Science
