About Us:
The Scoop team has a simple mission: eliminate traffic, reimagine transportation, and give life back to commuters and communities.
With more than 650,000 carpool trips taken in our first 18 months, Scoop is the largest carpooling platform in the United States. We’re aiming at making carpooling easy for the first time - and we are looking for awesome developers to help us continue the fight against traffic.
Two years after our San Francisco Bay Area launch, Scoop has become a vibrant community of coworkers and neighbors across the Bay and, more recently, Seattle. Our mobile-first commuting technology powers the carpooling programs of many of the Bay Area and Seattle's largest employers, including Tesla, Workday, and Salesforce.

You'll work with the infrastructure team to scope/design features and standardize best practices. In this role, you'll drive right into our backend stack, supporting efforts on our in-house matching algorithm, the scaling of our infrastructure, API support for new features, and everything in between.
If you're not shy and eager to roll up your sleeves on a growing team and in a fast-paced environment, this is a perfect opportunity for you.
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
- BA/BS in computer science/equivalent degree OR 2-4 years (or more) of experience working in an engineering development role
- Experience developing and working with REST APIs
- Expertise with leveraging monitoring and logging systems & tooling
- Familiarity with ETL pipelines and data analysis operations
- Ability to compromise in order to ship
Bonus Points For:
- node.js with Hapi
- PostgreSQL
- Git and Github
- Automated testing
- MA/MS in computer science or equivalent degree
What we can offer:
- Competitive cash + equity compensation
- Vacation as needed (no cap on days)
- Health care plan
- Free lunch 4 days a week via EatClub
- Top of the line laptop, 4k monitor and accessories
- $1,500 a year toward educational conferences or events, plus a $200 education slush fund per employee
- 401(k)
