You are the best developer on your team, but coding is no longer the most valuable use of your time. Your calling is to build teams.
Hammer is a self-funded and profitable software company that's tripling in size every year. We still firmly possess our startup feel and mentality, but we don't need to get caught up in the venture capital cash grab obsession. We eat what we kill.
We're located in idyllic San Diego, where we afford super deluxe modern offices for work and our employees can spend $4k per month and live in a beautiful home and not just a shitty one bedroom apartment (without a spot to park their car).
Our current revenue source is offering a SaaS platform for online advertising in the automotive industry, but we are in fast pursuit of building a text message platform that's going to bring us to the next level.
We are looking to find our dev team's lynchpin. Up until now, our smallish product team has been led by our co-founder and CTO, but it's time for us to bring someone on who will own the process of taking our product ideas, and leading them through to launch in an organized and timely way.
It is crucial that you are a natural leader and feel at home holding your own in the healthy and inevitable push and pull between the CEO's demands of getting the product launched and out the door ASAP, and CTO's requirements of delivering something beautiful and perfect in version 1.
You will be the driving force that brings new products from conception to launch.
There's a lot of great things about working at Hammer, but by far the most valued thing will be the growth that you'll experience. We have a culture of perfection, excellence and self-improvement. If you are happy with where you are at in life and don't have a burning desire to grow, this will not be a good fit.
Our Tech:
There is a big portion of our product running on Ruby on Rails, but we're moving to Elixir / Phoenix. Our database is PostgreSQL. We also use Docker and Convox. Front-end is primarily old-school HTML rendered on the server, with a desire to move towards React or Elm for the interactive bits. For mobile applications we're using React Native. Experience with most or all of these is a plus, but being a well-rounded technologist who’s been around the block more times than you can count is even better.
Role Description/ Responsibilities:
- Lead the recruitment of talented, and highly motivated developers
- Spearheading team execution, as well as overseeing the architecture and engineering process.
Desired Skills/Qualities:
- Proven track record of building large-scale, highly reliable Cloud based applications.
- A strong existing network of engineers
Perks of working at Hammer:
- All of the standard start-up stuff.
- Above market salary. We prefer to overpay for the 10x performers.
- Relocation expenses
This position requires you to be local at our San Diego headquarters. However, we are open to a paid, remote, contracting test to see if we are a good fit before you relocate.
