CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

The City of Los Angeles is seeking a highly qualified and creative individual to serve as the Chief Information Officer of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Candidates should have a Bachelor's or a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field from a recognized four year college or university, or equivalent work experience.

The LAPD seeks a candidate who possesses strong leadership ability to facilitate planning, organizing and directing the work of staff engaged in moving forward the initiatives, programs and projects of the LAPD Information Technology Bureau; a commitment to the City of Los Angeles (City) and its community with the utmost personal integrity; and strong communication skills to effectively represent the LAPD in presenting technical issues and needs to elected and appointed officials, the Board of Police Commissioners, the public and other executives and managers within the LAPD.

COMPENSATION PLAN

CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER- LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT

SALARY

The current salary range is $167,520 to $225,755 per year. If warranted, an initial salary above the starting level of $167,520 may be approved.

RETIREMENT

The City provides an excellent independent retirement plan to which both the employee and the City contribute. The employee's contribution is tax deferred and paid through payroll deduction.

Newly hired employees must participate in the Medicare system. The employee's contribution through payroll deduction is matched by the City.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN

Employees participating in this plan voluntarily defer a portion of their salary to help them prepare for financial independence upon retirement, while lowering their current income taxes.

VACATION AND HOLIDAYS

The vacation plan provides for two weeks vacation after one year of service, three weeks after five years, and up to four weeks with additional years of service. In addition, the City observes approximately 12 paid holidays during the year.

HEALTH AND DENTAL PLANS

The City has five health and three dental plans. They include various HMOs as well as basic reimbursement plans, if you wish to choose your own doctor or dentist. All of these plans will cover most individual medical expenses. Family members may be included at little or no additional cost for most plans.

SICK LEAVE AND DISABILITY BENEFITS

Employees are provided generous sick leave for illness or injury. After five years of service, an employee who becomes disabled may receive a disability retirement allowance.

LIFE INSURANCE

$10,000 Life Insurance coverage is furnished at City expense, effective January 1, 1998. Supplemental life insurance may be purchased up to five times annual pay. Accidental death and Disability and family life insurance may also be purchased.

AUTOMOBILE

A City vehicle is provided at City expense for use in City business.

RECIPROCITY

The City of Los Angeles has a reciprocal retirement agreement with many California governmental agencies which belong to Cal PERS. Additional information may be obtained from our Senior Executive Recruiter.
