Are you an individual who takes pride in delivering exceptional work? Are you ready for your next challenge? Brown and Caldwell has a great opportunity for an experienced SQL Server Developer/Database Architect to join our growing team! In this role, you will lead the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of SQL Server database solutions and systems.

Position Expectations

  • Assist in the training and mentoring of SQL Server development staff.
  • Establish maintain standards and criteria for quality of service provided to customers.
  • Maintain an understanding of current technologies, their trends, business strategies and capabilities, and their implications on SQL Server development and establish standards for development and deployment.
  • Develop good quality, high performance work product. Establish standards for and monitor the quality of the team’s development work product to ensure that these standards are being adhered to and that proper code review is being performed.
  • Work with PMO team and stakeholders to develop and document business requirements and business rules in the form of conceptual, logical, and physical data models, and data flow diagrams. Develop functional specifications to meet business requirements and review with PMO team and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the prioritization of work throughout the development team. Lead team projects and manage the timeline and prioritization of items on those projects.
  • Establish long-term data management processes including data lifecycle management, integration processes, and master data management. Create new and innovative ways to manage data alignment with company strategies

Skills/Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience of as a SQL Server developer.
  • A deep and thorough understanding of Microsoft Transact-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SQL database internals, and the functions of database administration and security.
  • Strong experience with performance tuning of SQL Server databases, SSIS packages, and Transact-SQL queries, procedures, functions, etc.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts: various architectures, ETL, data stores vs. data marts, tabular vs. multi-dimensional, etc. Experience with Microsoft SSAS preferred.
  • Ability to mentor development team members in solid troubleshooting and analysis techniques and understand troubleshooting and analysis as it relates to specific business situations.
  • Ability to prioritize analysis and troubleshooting activities and make decisions as to highest return on investment.
  • Ability to understand highly complex business rules specific to BC systems and troubleshoot problems and analyze data as it applies to those complex business rules.
  • Ability to collect and compile information from all levels of the development team and effectively present and communicate that information to leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field of study.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experienced and comfortable working in a fast paced, ambiguous, and event driven environment
