Senior Middleware Engineer

Octo Telematics is seeking a Middleware specialist to develop and maintain JEE modules, Java and Javascript applications for the organization’s telematics platform and tools.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop workflows on an Enterprise Service BUS/IoT platform
• Working with the agile software development team, contribute to daily standups, code reviews, task estimations, testing, continuous integration, and short bursts of delivery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and capture project requirements.
• Review project delivery requirements with the Director of Integration to ensure operational issues are addressed.
• Continuously improve, refine, and refactor the code base.
• Help with technical design and architecture while balancing the primary role of delivery.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Compute Engineering, or Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
• 10 plus years of production software development experience
• Ideal candidates will have the following skillsets (Spring, Hibernate, Web Services (SOAP and/or Restful))
• Familiarity consuming and producing web services and enterprise integration concepts in a SOA environment
• Ability to use and debug applications
• Working knowledge of building extensible back-end application frameworks.
• Good understanding of web application development using HTTP REST, software standards, software development life cycle and methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience with integrating 3rd party APIs into existing JEE applications (webservices)
• Direct experience with developing a web services messaging and business logic layer (SOAP and RESTful) and familiarity with WSDL’s, JSON, and XML.
• Experience with Big Data database (Hadoop)
• Mid-Level knowledge of DB SQL Skills
• Direct Experience with one or more JEE and Simple Web Containers – GlassFish, Jboss, Weblogic, Tomcat
• Knowledge with Java based BPML Workflow Engines a plus.
