We look for people who are exceptionally imaginative, collaborative, and truly excited about our mission - to inform, entertain and connect the world.
Job Description
TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield has few peers in world of startup competition, and it takes a remarkably talented individual to orchestrate the Battlefield four times a year — at our Disrupt events in New York, San Francisco and London, as well as at CES in las Vegas. TechCrunch is looking for a strong leader to manage the competition as well help the franchise grow in the years ahead. This senior level position, reporting directly to the COO and the editor-in-chief of TechCrunch, requires strong experience in a number of areas related to recruiting early stage startups, selecting applicants from a large applicant pool, coaching startups for their pitches on stage, and managing the ever-growing community of Battlefield alums.
Qualifications
Competitive candidates for the Battlefield role must have direct experience working with early stage founders and a strong grasp of the attributes that make early stage startups potential winners. Coaching founders for their pitch on stage, another important part of the role, requires a keen sense of what makes a good pitch and the combination of grit and charm needed to steer founders to a winning performance. It’s worth noting that when Battlefield companies go on stage, they not only face world class judges, there is also a live audience of thousands and a live, online audience that can top 100,000.
Candidates must have:
- Strong organization skills
- The ability to work in a flat and highly collaborative organization
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and spoken.
The successful candidate will take on leadership for one of the startup community’s greatest assets and responsibilities. The more than 623 companies that have competed in Battlefield to date, have raised more than $6.6 billion and produced 81 exits. TechCrunch aims to find a leader who will continue this remarkable legacy and make it stronger than ever.
