SUMMARY OF POSITION
WB Games Inc. seeks a Lead Software Engineer, Platform, for the WBG San Francisco Engineering department. At WB Games San Francisco we are bringing some of the most iconic characters and stories to life in the mobile space. In this position, you will have a hands on role in defining and implementing core systems and features, expanding and improving our backend platform, and assist with integrating existing libraries and services. You will focus on server side technologies, client integration support and performance optimization.
You will supervise a team of Engineers and will prioritize work, develop plans, and work with production to schedule and assign tasks to team members. This position requires close collaboration with developers from other teams to help capture, develop, and communicate a coherent vision of our game systems, features, and tools.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, implement and maintain server systems, tools and pipelines to support development of our service based architecture.
- Help set performance targets and optimize performance of our server side code.
- Assess and integrate middleware and 3rd party mobile technology solutions.
- Accountable for the security of our platform.
- Oversee platform engineering team from a day to day perspective and provide technical guidance.
- Review the work of team members to ensure adherence to coding and quality standards.
- Act as a liaison between the Platform Engineering team, game engineers, game designers, artists, and producers.
- Work with central WB teams to manage our server infrastructure.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 6 years’ experience as a senior level platform engineer.
- 2 years supervisory experience leading a team of engineers.
- At least 3 years experience programming skills in a Node.js environment.
- At least 2 years working with a NoSQL database technology.
- In depth knowledge of service based architecture.
- In depth knowledge of operating a live server based application.
- Experience developing and shipping highly scalable services, including load testing.
- Strong practical knowledge of common data structures and software design practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment and communicate with team members of all disciplines.
