Job Summary: In collaboration with the VP of Publications you will be responsible for curation and operation of two soon-to-launch, brand-new websites, and for managing extensive social media and digital advertising campaigning. You will post and promote new publications—annually to include four new magazine issues, 3-5 newly published books in both printed and digital formats, a weekly podcast, and various special products. You will closely monitor GoogleAnalytics trends for all of our products, optimize all products for search engines, and create and operate sophisticated Google AdWords campaigns to target and expand audiences for all of our products. You will manage our Amazon and Apple Store marketing of books and podcasts. You will be responsible for running active Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts that post daily. You will develop new platforms and media campaigns as needed to bring all of our creative products to the attention of wide audiences. You will also have some duties assisting the publications editor and managing editor with aspects of magazine and book production, including book indexing, management of mail lists, creation of targeted promotional and marketing efforts, and so forth. You will collaborate with publications art director in maintaining the look and feel of our websites and electronic products to match brand guidelines, as well as in creation of things like e-books, software-assisted book indexing, etc.

Job Duties: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • We are currently in the process of creating several brand-new websites. As our outside designers and programmers build the sites, you will manage migration of all existing content to their new platforms, and then oversee posting of all new content.
  • Working with our vendors who will be in charge of all programming and back-end structure, uncover bugs and site inadequacies and have them addressed immediately.
  • Post, adapt, edit, create, and commission all future web content.
  • Upload clean, accurate copy promptly after print products are created. Select or produce headlines and pull quotes for web posts. Procure photography and illustration, using PhotoShop to manipulate most images without assistance of art director. Maintain high standards of visual clarity, beauty, and ease of use.
  • Give advice and guidance to your supervisor and our technical vendors on future features, layout, operation, and architecture of our sites.
  • Maintain clean, accessible archives of older web content. Update as necessary to keep our offerings accurate and relevant to changing events. Update staff photos and bios online.
  • Continually enhance the quality and appearance of our website. Help formulate a long-term vision to assure that it remains the best in its class, and migrates seamlessly to constantly improved forms.
  • Manage an active and imaginative social media effort. This will include daily postings, on multiple platforms, promoting products.
  • Manage an active and imaginative digital advertising effort. This will include tens of thousands of annual dollars of AdWords, Facebook, Twitter advertising.
  • Maintain advanced expertise in Google Analytics, AdWords, web and social media state of the art.
  • Manage regular e-blasts sent out to publicize new products.
  • Create rich, accurate Index for every Roundtable book, under time pressure.
  • Assist in finding natural sound, historical sound, musical tracks, and other archived audio for our weekly podcasts.
  • Occasionally provide technical assistance to our periodic production of brief videos. This may include video research, video captures, fresh video shoots, video editing, assemblage, polishing, simple sound adjustment, and music tracking.
  • Create very short videos and GIFs for use in social media advertising of our products.

Skill Factors:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience: Digital marketing, marketing, promotion/advertising, computer science
  • Computer: Strong computer skills; excellent command of MS Office, Outlook, CRM database, GoogleAnalytics, SEO, AdWords, Facebook and Twitter advertising
