Social Media Manager

Division/College: Marketing and Communications
Location: Boston Main Campus
Full-time/Part-time: Full Time
Responsibilities:
Northeastern's digital newsroom is looking for a Social Media Manager with superb skills in social media strategy for all platforms; deep understanding of social analytics; super creativity and speed; and experience in journalism. You will be managing Northeastern's presence and audience engagement on the university's main social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.), including social listening, data analytics, and strategy/implementation to leverage these platforms for storytelling as part of the daily news operation.
You'll also have to develop creative campaigns and highly shareable original content to engage users, crowdsource audience feedback and communicate information effectively. You have to be not only creative and an excellent writer on social platforms, you also have to love data and be quick on your feet to act based on analytics, and be up to date on the latest trends and emerging platforms. You also have to love journalism and great storytelling in all forms. You have to come up with strategies to leverage social media in new and innovative ways to engage audiences through our newsroom's storytelling while being mindful of our institutional messaging priorities.
You have to be versatile when it comes to the different platforms and audience segments—the messaging, tone, strategy and implementation should be tailored to each account, platform and audience segment. You'll be collaborating closely and creatively with others on the team and providing strategic ideas for maximizing the performance of our stories, including rich media content, on each social platform.
You have to develop testing strategies around different storytelling formats and messages; track performance through a variety of metrics; interpret data and make informed proposals for increasing engagement and improving performance.
You have to be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with social media partners across Northeastern to leverage their networks. As social media never sleeps, you have to be responsive, fast, thoughtful and creative at a moment's notice regardless of the time or day. Crisis and opportunities don't and can't wait.
If you love working in a creative and high-energy and fast-paced environment with great storytellers, you'll feel right at home on our team.
