OVERVIEW

The Information Technology office is responsible for assisting the courts in achieving the Judicial Council's technology objectives. The division is directly responsible for the development, acquisition, implementation and support of automated systems in the appellate courts, trial courts and the Judicial Council.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work independently with moderate supervision and interface with local courts, Judicial Council departments, Enterprise architects, security teams, California Courts Technology Center (CCTC) technical support staff, vendors, and the management teams for IT, Branch Accounting, and Procurement departments.
  • Support the SAP Basis development and provide administration and support to all 58 California Trial Courts’ Phoenix Financial Systems. This includes: R/3 ECC, Portal, Oracle database, Portal content management, Business Intelligence, Security, and Solution Manager Administration.
  • Maintain systems and administer oversight for 11 Trial Courts’ Human Resources Systems.
  • Support 4 CCTC and two Judicial Council-hosted environments, including 39 virtualized systems, 9 SAP complimentary software applications, 90+ interfaces of financial institutions, trial courts and Human Resources vendors, and on-demand and standardized reports.
  • Support after hours and conduct weekend maintenance on windows.
  • Act as the Technical Project Manager, create technical project plans, monitor projects’ progress, and report regular status to IT Management.
  • Participate in planning and status meetings with CCTC data center vendor, business teams, Enterprise Architects, and Security Teams. This requires a working knowledge of system and network architecture, SAP infrastructure, network security, and SAP complimentary products such as Netweaver Single Sign-on, data migration tools, and UX functionality.
  • Perform SAP Basis administrator duties, such as SAP installs, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Update the tax rules using BSI application.
  • Develop technical Proof of Concepts for SAP’s newly deployed functionality.
  • Act as the administrator for the Oracle database for Phoenix applications.
  • Resolve and provide support to all of SAP Basis and CCTC related tickets.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all reported outages related to the Phoenix application. This requires working knowledge of virtualized, high availability environments, network architecture, as well as SAP application components, and users; desktops’ configurations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferably in computer science, information systems, or directly related field, and five (5) years of design and development experience including solid knowledge and proficiency in the software used in the assignment.

Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or directly related field may be substituted for one of the years of required experience.

OR

Two years as an Application Development Analyst (utilizing the software used in the assignment) with the Judicial Council of California or other California state government entity.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge in architecture of all SAP products;
  • Knowledge in architecture of supporting applications, such as RWD, BSI, ACL, Siteminder, NWSSO, and Apache;
  • Knowledge in application administration of SAP Basis, RWD, BSI, Solman, ACL, and Business Warehouse;
  • Oracle database administration;
  • Knowledge of Middleware tools like Siteminder, SAP NWSSO, Apache, Axway, and Portal;
  • Knowledge of front-end technology like Windows, Java, SAPGUI, and Browsers;
  • Operating System administrations of Unix, Linux, and Windows;
  • Knowledge of new technologies for virtualization of hardware; and
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture principles.

KNOWLEDGE OF

  • Information systems architecture for enterprise-wide systems;
  • Design, development, and deployment principles, methods, and strategies for complex, multi-tier and integrated information systems;
  • Interrelationship between different operating systems, development tools, middleware, messaging, and system management;
  • Principles and methods of system security, as assigned;
  • Principles and methods of database design, management, and tuning;
  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC);
  • Software development, data modeling, programming languages, and report generators;
  • High proficiency in assigned programming/coding language(s), as assigned;
