APS 4
Russell, ACT
$63,236 - $69,038 (plus super)

The Defence Intelligence Web Services team is a customer support and development team providing internet, intranet and collaboration web services to Intelligence customers. We support the Strategic Policy and Intelligence Group within the Department of Defence by providing technical web support and development across a range of commercial off-the-shelf and open source web application platforms in majority PHP and Linux environment. We are looking for a web developer with an open-source focus who is keen to help us design, build, integrate and ensure the security of the future of web based information sharing platforms in a national security context.

You'll work in a supportive mixed-discipline team alongside other developers and application administrators, responsible for helping Intelligence staff to securely share information with each other through services that we provide. You'll be helping us with the Australian Government-wide effort to adopt the Digital Transformation Office's Digital Service Standard. There is no 'average day', because you could be helping solve protocol-level connectivity problems, or writing custom open source modules, or helping the team do strategic planning, or researching the latest in web application security.

You can expect to be doing coding, testing and system administration both autonomously and with colleagues. We are a small team where everyone pitches in, so you will have opportunities to help in non-coding roles including stakeholder engagement, user research, procurement and continuing professional development. As an APS4 web developer you will have direct responsibility for key tasks and be mentored and supported by more senior staff. Your work will improve the workplace experience and collaboration capabilities for Intelligence staff who are defending Australia and our national interests.
