About ALU
ALU is building the “University of the Future” by leveraging world class pedagogy, advanced education technology, linkages to employers, and a focus on skills development. Our first campus is up and running with 350 students on the beautiful island of Mauritius. We plan to scale across Africa with more campuses (we recently received accreditation in Rwanda) as well as modular courses and other offerings.

As a high-growth start-up, the ALU Faculty Team works in starkly different ways to traditional academic bureaucracies. We approach education from first principles, create innovative learning experiences, and empower individuals to design, test, and implement creative new ideas. We are deeply passionate about crafting a world-class student learning experience and excited by the challenge of building something entirely new.
About The Role
ALU’s Computer Science Faculty will co-design and deliver our inaugural Computer Science program. The program will be a hands-on, project-centric approach to learning computing, with a particular focus on software development, hardware & robotics, and network security. You will have the chance to work with some of the brightest students and colleagues in the world. And unlike unbundled offerings (e.g. coding bootcamps), our students go through rigorous leadership, entrepreneurship, projects, and African Studies programs so that they have the skills and contextual knowledge to transform the continent.
Requirements
You have a strong CS background (professionally and/or academically), understand the major domains & trends in the field, know how to get up to speed on the areas where your experience is lacking, and can explain how it all relates to each other.At some point, you thought to yourself, “there has to be a better way for people to learn all of this." So you’ve reflected on what you’d keep from your education, and especially considered what you would change. Though you may not have all the answers yet, you have some ideas that you’d like to try out. You believe in the high potential of students, and you see them as active participants in learning as opposed to passive recipients of information. You’ve had the experience of seeing the light go on when someone “gets it” - maybe in a formal classroom, but maybe not - and you found that experience immensely satisfying.
