The Kennedy Center is recognizes the importance of a strong digital presence in maintaining and extending our reach nationally and internationally, and across a wide range of demographics and interests. We have undertaken a strategic planning exercise which included defining high level digital objectives and key strategic initiatives in our Digital Presence goal, as follows:
- Attract and engage audiences and grow transactions, using analytics for effective customer targeting and segmentation
- Cost effectively create, curate and deliver arts and arts education programming via a portfolio of digital channels, nationally and internationally.
- Use digital technologies to extend and enhance visitor experiences, encourage interaction, learning and transaction.
- Architect digital, data and analytics-centered decision making into the organization
The Center seeks an experienced and dedicated leader to ensure the refinement of these high level objectives and initiatives into a cohesive strategy and to collaborate across the center to ensure the implementation and operationalization of the initiatives therein.
Requirements:
5% Articulate and communicate a detailed digital strategy and specific plans based on the high level objectives and initiatives already in place
15% Maintain comprehensive knowledge of digital technology use across the performing arts, education, entertainment and live events industries, analyze opportunities for using those technologies in the Kennedy Center and make recommendations for adoption of technologies
5% Benchmark the Kennedy Center’s digital presence against comparable organizations (both performing arts and education)
15% Collaborate with other departments (including artistic programming, education, marketing, PR, events and development) to develop engaging digital experiences for web, mobile and in-person visitors in multiple segments within our patron, visitor, supporter and partner communities, and within education organizations.
15% Collaborate with other departments (including artistic programming, education, marketing, PR, events and development) to create, manage and disseminate digital content assets, including performances, events, interviews, educational resources etc. to fulfil all parts of the mission, and support the operations of the Center
10% Lead efforts to increase national and international reach of web properties and diversify visitor demographics
10% Increase digital touch points on the campus and digital capability embedded in performances and events
15% Put in place tools and processes to capture and continuously analyze audience and constituent demographics, motivations, preferences and behavior to enable segmentation and personalization
10% Define and implement key performance indicators and use to drive further optimization of digital presence across the center
Education/ Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Graduate degree preferred, equivalent experience accepted)
- Demonstrated track record planning and implementing Digital Strategies in a live events/performance based organization
- 15+ years’ experience in a role which drives business value through web based technologies
- 5+ years responsibility for digital marketing, commerce engagement
- Working knowledge of education and curriculum trends in digital technology use
- Demonstrated use of metrics/results to drive performance and tactics
- Strong track record building and engaging diverse audiences through digital technologies
Minimum Skills and/or Knowledge Required
- Thorough knowledge of current web application development technologies and capabilities (mobile and desktop), including web application security.
- Ability to plan and manage initiatives within budget limits.
- Intimate familiarity with leading digital trends and innovators
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent cross functional collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize complex data and present sophisticated ideas simply
- Familiarity with data analytics tools such as Google Analytic, Tableau
