The International Living Future Institute seeks an exceptional Technology Manager in its Seattle, WA, office. The Institute’s mission is to lead and support the transformation toward communities that are socially just, culturally rich and ecologically restorative. We administer the Living Building Challenge™, the built environment's most rigorous and ambitious performance standard.
We are the parent organization for Cascadia Green Building Council, a chapter of both the United States and Canada Green Building Councils, which serves Alaska, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. We are also home to Ecotone Publishing, a unique publishing house dedicated to telling the story of the green building movement's pioneering thinkers and practitioners.
The Technology Manager’s role is to manage all IT systems, software and hardware in the organization for two offices and 34 staff, including several remote employees. Additionally they will manage all facets of the Institute's Salesforce database, provide project management and oversight for web application development and maintenance, and consult with various departments on process development and the department's relationship to technology. The Institute operates in an Apple environment and the Technology Manager must have a deep familiarity with Apple. The successful candidate must exhibit a strong passion for the environment and the ILFI's mission as a whole, and have proven technical, problem-solving, project management and communications skills. The ability to work independently on tasks at various scales and manage multiple schedules with minimal supervision is critical.
This job is full-time, exempt and typically 40 hours per week. Compensation is commensurate with experience and is supplemented by the Institute’s generous benefits package, which includes health and dental insurance (premiums fully paid by the Institute), three weeks of paid annual leave, 12 days annual sick leave, and retirement plan with employer matching.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Overall IT Management and Support
• Manage all hardware to support staff productivity (Mac laptops)
• Manage, select and implement software including training (Office, Adobe CS etc.)
• Plan and manage the use of all Applications to ensure consistency and
productivity.
Infrastructure
• Ensure that all infrastructures are integrated with each other and functioning at the highest potential.
• Serve as webmaster for multiple websites on various technology platforms
• Monitor, update, and maintain the Institute’s Salesforce database as necessary
• Manage relationships with external service providers & developers
Planning
• Oversee development of and provide support for web-based applications to support unique, cutting edge green building certification, accreditation, product labeling and tracking programs
• Research, test, implement, and train staff on technology solutions to meet new and evolving organizational needs while working within budgetary requirements typical of non-profit organizations
• Remain apprised of available and evolving technologies that may serve the Institute’s needs and goals, and make recommendations for organization adoption
• Maintain documentation for all organizational infrastructure, accounts, data
sources, data methodologies, maintenance techniques, and custom applications
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a field complimentary to job duties, or equivalent experience/education that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities
• 3-5 years IT/Database Management, and/or other technology infrastructure support experience.
• Sufficient knowledge of Drupal and Salesforce to effectively manage projects and external vendors
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong project management skills
• Advanced experience with Salesforce CRM
• Advanced HTML / CSS experience.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake a systems thinking/ holistic approach to IT.
DESIRED
• Previous experience with Drupal back end/module development
