Job Description:
Engadget is looking for a talented producer and content creator to join our in-house video production team to craft entertaining and informative video for our 24 million-person monthly audience. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about producing and ideating Engadget original content.
Must be capable of story development, scheduling, collaborating with varied teams, directing, and composing stories in post. Additionally, we need someone who possesses a thorough understanding of all aspects of production from pre through post, from directing and conducting interviews to camera operation and studio gear knowledge.
This position is based in our San Francisco office.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop program treatments for new series and standalone pieces
Manage and schedule local and field shoots
Coordinate and conduct interviews
Help develop and vet stories, work from a, brief, outline and/or a shot list
Work with Engadget’s editorial team to ideate, produce and edit videos for both standalone and recurring video segments in-house and on location
Source, hire, manage and direct production crews
Organize/assemble/synchronize all raw footage
Create a 'rough cut' of the video and timeline next and final stages
Re-order/tweak the content to ensure the logical sequencing and compelling storytelling
Experiment with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements
Responsible for “online” editing which entails delivering the final product to the required specifications, correcting faulty footage, grading/coloring, sweetening audio and adding special effects to finish the video
Help to shape voiceover/commentary to fit overall storylines
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years experience in a video production environment
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Motion, Photoshop, Illustrator, Video Compression
Comprehensive understanding of camera operation and video production gear
Ability to think creatively and solve unique problems on the fly
Ability to prioritize and manage numerous projects under tight deadlines
Strong post-workflow knowledge
Knowledge of, and a passion for, technology culture a plus
Must be willing to travel and work nights and/or weekends as needed
