Manager, Platform Engineering

We are looking for a Manager of Platform Engineering - a hands-on technical lead to help our Platform Engineering team in embracing DevOps methodology and tools. You will work closely with our Software Engineering and Infrastructure teams to provide automation for software release cycle and design and support the application infrastructure for dozens of new products and applications in private and public cloud.

WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO:

• Work closely with Director of Platform Engineering to continue implementing tools and approaches in line with DevOps best practices.
• Manage a team of four engineers. Track progress on projects, work with stakeholders and management to set priorities.
• Manage resourcing, hiring and performance management
• Work with IAC Applications technology teams to help design systems, architecture, and automation solutions and systems leveraging our SaaS/IaaS strategy
• Work with your peers as a subject matter expert on datacenter technologies, automation, and SaaS services
• Drive Automation efforts across the organization to reduce manual effort utilizing Chef and other platform and application management tools

WHY WE WANT YOU:

• Excellent people management and internal resource planning skills
• Strong hands-on System Engineering and Software Deployment skills (5+ years of Linux experience)
• Solid experience with automation techniques/technologies, preferably Chef
• Strong experience regarding implementation details such as failover strategies, backup strategies, resource requirements and capacity management
• Strong scripting/programming experience with one or more of following: Bash, Ruby, Python
• Good understanding of Security and Security practices
• Experience with Application Monitoring solutions (AppDynamics, New Relic, Catchpoint etc)
• Experience with Infrastructure monitoring solutions (Nagios, Zenoss etc)
• Knowledgeable of networking concepts including load balancers, routers and switching, TCP/IP protocols and services
• Knowledge of AWS Technologies
• Familiarity with Agile practices and methodologies
• Ability to work well under pressure, handling multiple tasks and balancing multiple objectives
• Experience with Git version control
