In this position, the ideal candidate will assist with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases of organizational projects. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. The qualified candidate's participation on projects is focused on the optimization of our server systems, specifically those running the LAMP stack, but will include other server profiles as well.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 4+ years of administrating Linux environments (Debian, RedHat, CentOS or Ubuntu)
  • 3+ years of troubleshooting hardware and software bugs (know how to debug installation issues, missing drivers, hacking kernels, bootloaders, etc.)
  • Robust TCP/IP networking knowledge including switching/routing (HP Procurve, Cisco or Sonicwall)
  • Understanding of networking security concepts. (Being able to setup sandboxed/jail environments)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strategic and forward thinking
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently with limited direction

Preferred experience:

  • Experience with 24/7 "four nines" SLA support and monitoring
  • Experience with setting up Linux clusters (Linux HA, Heartbeat, DRBD, etc.)
  • Experience with Python/Bash/Perl scripting
  • Experience with LVM
  • Experience with Splunk
  • Experience with Chef

This is an in house position. Successful candidate will reside in our Westlake Village, CA office.
