Mindmaps is looking for an energetic a Cluster Engineer to be part of the core development team. In this critical and exciting phase of Mindmaps' growth, you will be an integral contributor in forming the future of our company.
At Mindmaps, we design our development stack to be horizontally scalable. With the current trend of big data, our development platform is geared towards developing on clusters of powerful machines with distributed data in mind. As a Cluster Engineer, you will immediately take charge of the Mindmaps cluster infrastructure, consisting of at least two terabytes of RAM, 350 cores of CPU and 30 terabytes of disc space. Soon we will also be directing our development towards clusters on cloud services. Your main responsibility is to drive the development of our cluster infrastructure and be the backbone of the team, which includes (but not limited to) the following list of responsibilities:
1. Develop our cluster and security infrastructure.
2. Advance server and network troubleshooting.
3. System performance profiling and optimisation.
4. Write tutorials for the developer community.
As a Cluster Engineer, you are required to have shown excellent achievements pertaining to:
1. Bachelor’s degree in an IT / Computing related field.
2. Maintaining production systems (min. 3 years).
3. Linux infrastructure: administration, monitor, performance analysis.
4. Hadoop/MapReduce: architecture, administration.
5. Cluster tools: Storm, Zookeeper, HAProxy, Cassandra, HDFS, Pig, Hive.
6. Deployment tools: Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
7. Scripting: Python, Shell.
8. Java: reading and basic writing.
9. Distributed computing concepts.
10. Networking: DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, SSH, monitoring, troubleshooting, security.
11. Distributed & NoSQL Databases.
12. Web servers: Tomcat, Apache, Nginx.
13. Containers and virtualisation: LXC, VMware, Xen, Hypervisor.
14. AWS: any or all of EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, Dynamo DB, EMR.
15. Continuous integration and release: Jenkins, Maven.
