We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (C++) to build and enhance our core low-latency, quantitative electronic trading applications. Working with small agile teams and directly with traders and scientists, you will be exposed to some of the brightest minds and some of the hardest problems in the industry.

If you are an experienced C++ developer with a Linux background and you share our values, please contact us. Bonus points will be awarded for experience building low-latency components and/or experience in the financial or trading industry.

Our values

  • SOLID design principles
  • Test Driven (TDD) implementation process
  • Teamwork
  • Simplicity
  • Intellectual agility
  • Continuous learning
  • Experimentation

What are you going to be doing?

As Quantlab software engineers, we do work that impacts the bottom line. The applications we build and the code we write are directly tied to how much money our trading systems make. On any given day we find ourselves doing any or all of the following (and then some):

  • Writing fast C++; writing code in several languages; optimizing code; pair programming
  • Building trading system applications; analyzing system performance/trading data;building applications that parse and stream data; debugging CPU cold-path problems; increasing system resiliency
  • Working with our research scientists to deliver their algorithms and models
  • Learning how exchanges work; learning how trading works; learning how the company operates; teaching and mentoring others
  • Helping build talent on the team; mentoring summer interns; managing summer intern projects; interviewing candidates; giving and receiving feedback

Who should you be? (Who’s successful here?)

In our tech-driven, team-focused firm, you will work on teams whose top priority is to get it done. You will work with people whose goal it is to bring out the best in each other and to build things that can’t be built by one person alone. Our developers love what they do. We have more nerd-geek per square inch here than on most development teams. If you work here your hobby is software too; you love this stuff and keep thinking about it on your drive home.

To be successful on our team you have to be:

  • Test focused and passionate about developing great software; you build things you’re proud of and believe in software craftsmanship. Bugs bug you.
  • A continuous learner, passionate about technology and a full-time tinkerer; you want to know how things work and you take things apart to figure them out because you can.
  • Productive. You measure first, refactor as you go; you take initiative, you own your work, and you are persistent in seeing what you do through to production and beyond.
  • Smart. Difficult problems excite you; challenges—bring ‘em on; you want to do things better than they’ve ever been done before. And you are skilled enough to handle them.
