This Research Software Developer will be responsible for:

  • Specifying, designing, developing, coding, testing and implementing software applications that support the needs of multiple projects considering the individual goals and objectives of each entity.
  • Providing analytical and technical guidance and working with hospital information systems and hosting staff to ensure seamless operation of the production site.
  • Participating in standards for development and software selection, and makes application processing and designing recommendations.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2 to 5 years of directly related work experience which must include:
  • Professional Web development experience (Python (Flask/Django) / PHP preferred; Ruby on Rails also desirable.
  • Ajax, HTML, CSS, JSON, JavaScript (jQuery experience required; AngularJS a plus)
  • Linux
  • Relational Database experience (SQL)
  • Object Oriented programming methodologies
  • Sharp, driven, strong communication skills
  • Comfort with version control and project process (i.e., Git, SVN and Jira)
  • Experience in the following would put your resume on top of the pile:
AWS/Ubuntu/RDS
  • Server configuration (nginx, Apache)
  • Developing RESTful APIs

Accelerator and Computational Epidemiology Group work closely together to transform public health practice and surveillance through innovative multidisciplinary epidemiologic research and applications. Overall, our research agenda aims to have translational impact on the control and prevention of disease through better understanding of factors influencing disease risk, improved practice of public health and engaging the public around important health issues.

We make clinical and public facing applications to support these research goals, as well as using health data to assist clinicians in improving the quality of patient care.
