VP, Engineering (Fox Sports Digital)

Our Playa Vista Engineering team supports content production and distribution across our social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and more), FOXSports.com, and the FOX Sports iOS Mobile app.

The VP of Engineering is responsible for technical vision, execution and operations across these web, mobile and social platforms and products. This position is expected to recruit, hire and develop an outstanding technical development team applying best practices in process and architecture to build great products.

She/He should be experienced and comfortable taking a hands-on approach with projects covering varying platforms, technologies and architectures including iOS, WordPress/PHP, AWS (EC2, RDS, and more), Java services, Memcache, Apache SOLR, Oracle/MySQL, Redis, Node and Angular. He/she will take direct responsibility for overseeing integrated technology projects across FOX Sports Digital divisions and properties. This position requires collaboration at its highest with other technical resources, 3rd party vendors, and business unit stake holders.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and refine strategy for addressing FSIM business unit’s technical needs
• Vet the overall architecture for all FSIM properties applications including internal, 3rd Party, and SaaS. This includes their integration points and interdependencies
• Collaborate with product and editorial counterparts to ensure appropriate deliverables and business goals
• Develop and guide engineering team and development processes
• Manage and develop technology vendor and associated budget which includes monthly reports for stake holders
• Advocate adoption of new products and/or technologies to better FSIM business unit’s goals and targets

Qualifications

• B.S. Computer Science or equivalent
• 7-10 years with some management experience
• Experience managing full stack development teams building Internet-scale web applications and mobile applications.
• Ability to understand scalability and performance as it relates to both software and hardware solutions.
• Familiarity and interest in engineering process best practices. Ability to think outside the box and balancing that skill with practical decision making
• Versed on multiple operating systems, development environments, development tools, reporting tools, presentation software, documentation software, etc.
