The Director, Talent Development, is a newly created role that will serve as a key partner in leading the identification and development of exceptional talent from many diverse backgrounds. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, he or she will deliver a high-touch and amazing experience for potential candidates, staff and alumni throughout GHS’s global offices.

GHS has offices in New York, New Delhi, Nairobi, Rio de Janeiro and Beijing. Our clients include leading foundations, industry, NGOs, government agencies, academic institutions and product development partnerships.

The ideal candidate for the Director role will be passionate about what they do and be a self-starter with a bias to action and collaboration. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with demonstrated experience in talent acquisition and management in an entrepreneurial setting. The candidate must have excellent people and communication skills and have a strong presence in order to represent the organization and interact with all levels of candidates.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition Strategy: Build and oversee a best-in-class talent acquisition strategy. Manage the GHS talent acquisition process from beginning to end so that it drives quality hires for GHS roles at all levels. This includes:

•Create an organizational staffing plan and implement a sourcing strategy to meet current staffing needs and build a pipeline for future roles ensuring quality, cost effectiveness and speed.

•Organize a strategic outreach program to promote the GHS brand and network with candidates at leading colleges, universities and partner organizations, leveraging the GHS alumni network.

•Manage the interview process and help assess candidate quality, skills and fit; maintain effective relationships with candidates through the process and support negotiations and offers; ensure staff understands the process and is well trained to support it.

Talent Development Strategy: Build and oversee a best-in-class talent development strategy. Ensure that GHS employees are building their skills and thriving. Be the steward of the corporate culture sparking passion and ensuring that GHS continues to be a great place to work. This includes:

•Drive employee learning and engagement by ensuring that key professional development trainings and milestones for each staff member are set and met – including a yearly plan to ensure each staff person receives the development relevant to their role and progression.

•Facilitate the timely administration of the GHS annual review process including the collection of evaluations and scheduling of 1:1 feedback with managers.

•Manage new staff onboarding and ensure that each new employee has tools and resources for success; organize regular “brown bag”-like events featuring speakers and consultants for all staff.

Fellowship Program: Manage our newly launched global health fellowship program. Coordinate outreach and recruiting events at leading colleges and universities to develop a strong brand and relationships for the program.

Country Office Coordination: Support country offices in their talent acquisition and development activities. Help to set sourcing strategy, identify and screen candidates and ensure appropriate consistency to staff orientation, balancing global needs and local practices.

Human Resource Administration: Manage benefits and compensation program for GHS staff and maintain human resource databases.

Qualities We Look For

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following attributes and experiences:

•Experience recruiting talented people and developing programs to support them, and achievement of sufficient seniority to have been a key strategic partner to influence senior management on talent issues

•A natural intellectual curiosity and ability to build a strong network of relationships with thought leaders, academic leaders and top university contacts in the space; eagerness to travel and collaborate globally

•Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with superior organizational skills

•Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and function in an organizational environment involving a diversity of cultures, languages and personal interests

•Experience preferred in compensation and benefits, benchmarking processes and employment law, ideally in a range of geographies; experience also preferred in using human resource enterprise software

•Experience preferred in talent acquisition or management internationally

•Bachelor’s degree, plus additional related college courses or professional training preferred
