About Us:
Other companies understand your preferences for music, movies, and TV shows. We eat three times a day, so why can't we do the same for food? Yummly is building the smart, personal, and seamless platform for taste to answer the age old question, "What's for dinner?"
In a few short years, Yummly has grown to over 15 million monthly unique web visitors. Our mobile apps are consistently the #1 recipe apps on iPhone, iPad, Android, and Windows, and were named "Best of 2014" by Apple and Top Developer on Google Play. We’re only just getting started.
The Role:
We’re looking for a Lead Android Developer with cat-like reflexes (optional) who is bored with being a code monkey. We would love to speak with you if you’re ready to own the #1 recipe app in the Play Store, geek out about awesome UI/UX, conjure up new features & functionality that will be used by millions, and lead a group of talented developers. Come for the awesome apps, stay for the close-knit team and endless stream of edible delights.
You Will:
- Design, architect and build the best food app in the world for Android
- Lead cross-functional teams to perform design and architecture planning
- Collaborate on UX design with development and design teams
- Lead the QA efforts on the Android app, and ensure a comprehensive test coverage, both white and black box
- Perform weekly analysis on all Android user analytics data and share trends with the team
- Analyze competitive landscape, identify approaches and trends from competitors and build upon them to create a better product
- Provide unique insight into available libraries and SDKs for the Android Platform
- Lead a team of 3-5 developers and a QA engineer
- Provide daily builds of the app, preferably using an automated build environment
- Report directly to the Head of Mobile Development
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
- 3+ years of experience as a software developer
- 2+ years of experience with Android app development
- One or more professional, published Android apps
- Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
- Understanding of mobile application flow with an emphasis on highly-polished and pleasing user experiences
- Solid understanding of full mobile development life cycle, including QA and release
- Working knowledge of Agile (or similar) methodologies
- Proven leadership abilities, including cross-functional mechanics
- Strong focus on actionable data and analytics
Bonus Points:
- A demonstrated growth mindset
- Background in design or affiliated field
What We Can Offer You:
- Dog-friendly office
- A plethora of food and beverages
- A brand-new office in downtown Redwood City, including private parking and only a 5 minute walk from the Caltrain station
- Weekly meals
- Monthly stipend for either Health & Wellness or Commuter benefits
- Our own registered dietician and nutritionist
Oh yeah, we also offer all the usual stuff too:
- Competitive salary
- Standard health and life insurances
- 401K
- Equity
