The Software Developer is responsible supporting the SDLC, troubleshooting and maintenance, and production support. The Software Developer will work closely with the AVP of Application Development to prioritize time between production support and as a project resource.



The Software Developer will work closely with the Senior Developer and Software Architect as a project resource and is responsible for translating business requirements into outstanding software. The Software Developer participates in creating new functionality, integrating and enhancing off-the-shelf and existing software, and maintaining existing systems. Additionally, the developer assists in generating reports and extracts for various business units throughout the credit union.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Be passionate about learning new technologies and increasing personal development.
  • Research, design, and write software to specifications.
  • Create outstanding code in all tiers: user interface, business logic, data access, and database.
  • Develop high availability and highly scalable applications.
  • Create prototypes and proof of concepts.
  • Assists in the evaluation of software products.
  • Participate in and conduct code reviews.
  • Ensure solutions are released properly and the release is documented.
  • Translate business requirements and problems into innovative technical solutions.
  • Participate in user research and usability testing to help improve the user experience.
  • Create reports and extracts from SQL server, Oracle, and other disparate data sources.
  • Consult with management and review project proposals to determine goals, time frame, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources.
  • Prepare project status reports and keep management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
  • Create and maintain technical and project documentation. Including but not limited to technical documentation, FAQs, and training materials.
  • Create and maintain unit and functional tests.
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
  • Monitor production applications for performance and defects.
  • Troubleshoot production related issues where our software is running.
  • Timely and accurate completion of routine daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual support tasks.
  • Participate in a rotating 24x7 on call support tree.
  • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to: U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.

    Other Job Functions:
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Abides by all policies, procedures, and protocols set forth in the departmental, GTE Financial employee, operational and administrative policy manuals.

Required Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of the latest virtual channel solutions; including Interactive Teller machines and cross-platform mobile solutions.

    Required Educational/Experience Credentials:
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in the field.
  • A minimum of 2 or more years programming experience with the .NET Framework.
  • 1+ years programming or support of mobile development and applications is a plus.
  • Microsoft developer certifications are a plus: MTA, MCAD, MCPD, MCSD, MCTS.
  • Mobile development certifications are a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree obtained through a formal 4-year program at an accredited educational facility; may be waived with equivalent experience.
