Senior Information Security Analyst

Position Description

The senior information security analyst is responsible for coordinating the protection of KCTCS's digital information, user accounts and computer networks; development and maintenance of security procedures; and implementation of security procedures with KCTCS technical personnel and outside vendors. This position recommends and develops security measures to protect information against unauthorized modification or loss. The senior data security analyst must have expert knowledge of data, network, and system security techniques and tools. In addition, this position will be responsible for supporting the annual Information Technology audits. The security analyst must have expert knowledge of data, network, and system security techniques and tools.

Major Responsibilities/Duties
 

• Supporting colleges and System Office teams with security concerns

• Implementing, maintaining information security tools

• Updating best practices, security procedures and standards

• Supporting the annual external audit

• Evaluating and reviewing Information Security practices for Enterprise distribution

• Perform other duties as assigned

   

  Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Cyber Security or related field) and seven (7) years of position-related experience, or equivalent.

• Certification in one of the following: CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), Security +, OSCP, CCNA Security, ECSA (EC-Council Certified Security Analyst), GSEC / GCIH / GCIA:GIAC Security Certifications

  
  

Preferred Competencies  

Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years position-related experience or equivalent

• IDS/IPS, penetration and vulnerability testing

• Security risk assessments and IT audit

• TCP/IP, computer networking, routing and switching

• Firewall and intrusion detection/prevention

• Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems

• Wireshark and/or packet analysis tools

• Networking and Network Security

     

KY law requires state and national pre-employment background checks as a condition of employment. Initial review of applicants will begin on August 23, 2018.
