Position Purpose

As a Software Architect at Advicent, define solution architecture for key modernization and componentization efforts, as well as contribute toward the development and execution of Advicent’s architecture and technology roadmap. 

What you’re accountable for:

  • Architect and build solutions, working with a broad set of technologies, including rich client web and Windows based applications using C++, C#, Java, XHTML, JavaScript, Angular, AJAX and other current technologies
  • Define solution architecture for next generation financial planning solutions, including advanced analytics, data mining, AI, mobile apps, and deployment to cloud hosting environments
  • Research experiment with and learn new technologies, tools and development techniques, share findings with teammates
  • Work with management, technical leads and other team members to develop cutting-edge applications
  • Provide architectural guidance to the project teams
  • Estimate the level of effort and duration for entire projects / engagements
  • Ensure compliance to solution architectural design in the implementation of projects
  • Understand and participate in Advicent's Agile development life cycle
  • Support product deployments, including but not limited to installation, training and documentation
  • Use required development tools and adhere to department coding standards
  • Perform other tasks on projects as needed/assigned
  • Provide code reviews for highly complex code changes
  • Perform design review of new architectural components
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and research areas of application improvement to Advicent’s product suite
  • Lead development projects while working across multiple projects or initiatives
  • Provide expert knowledge, guidance and mentoring to other team members
  • Recommend improvements impacting the development team

What skills are required:

  • B.S. in information systems technology or computer science, with 6+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Enterprise architecture background, with Industry experience in financial services
  • Demonstrate a high level of creativity and problem solving skills
  • Highly skilled with multiple development languages, including Java, C++ and/or C# 
  • Ability to demonstrate solid development technical concepts
  • Ability to work on self-directed tasks and complete work independently
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possess a high level of organizational, creativity and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge using various web and Windows design methodologies, patterns, and architecture
  • Familiar with web service programming
  • Familiar with Agile software development methodologies is preferred
  • Familiar with  object-oriented principles such as SRP, OCP, LSP, DIP, and ISP is preferred
  • Familiarity with writing basic SQL queries
  • Ability to understand our products’, customers’ and partners’ needs in the Financial Planning industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and provide strategic input
  • A strong desire to learn and grow, both personally and professionally in ways that will enhance job performance
  • A proactive style with the ability to follow through on commitments and understand the importance of deadlines
  • A desire to grow the skillsets of those around them, team-oriented thinking
