The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO is currently seeking a Senior Software Architect skilled in principles of large scale software projects. The Senior Software Architect is a Leadership role on a programming team dedicated to providing knowledge to empower people living in remote locations. The Senior Software Architect will allow you to make a significant impact in saving and improving lives around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and architect the development of ECHO Digital, a state-of-the-art societal platform – an educational social network. Lead our team through the challenges of developing and maintaining ECHO Digital as it expands throughout the world. Help us transition to an open source platform.
- Mentor and supervise our team of smart developers, comprised of programmers working all over the world, in how to write great code and implement optimal solutions. Our team uses the latest tools and frameworks including Angular, Node.js, and MongoDB.
- Analyze and plan the technical direction of our software development, data models, and tools to ensure that the choices we make are optimal and enable us to grow. Work closely with Devops to ensure security, scalability and reliability as the ECHO platform grows to reach millions of members.

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. |
Leadership - experience managing a team of software developers building a complex application. Experience deploying software in a cloud host, such as AWS or Azure. Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra. Advanced knowledge of javascript, including modern frameworks such as Angular and Node.js. Fullstack developer, able to develop excellent frontend as well as backend code. Experience designing secure, efficient REST API's. Experience in multi-server, scalable architecture, using micro-services and containers. Experience contributing to or ideally managing Open Source projects. Experience in healthcare IT, familiarity with HIPAA and safeguards on Protected Health Information.
