The Global Solutions Engineer is a technical member of the IT Department who is responsible for developing global technology standards, and applying them to the design and implementation of Juilliard’s new campus in Tianjin, China.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain campus network, server, and storage platforms
  • Design and architect information and computer systems that meet specific, Tianjin campus needs.
  • Examine current systems architecture and solutions, and work with administrative and technical staff to recommend solutions that result in more effective systems.
  • Consult on technology infrastructure acquisitions and vendor selection for the technology build out of the Tianjin campus.
  • Coordinate and partner with other Juilliard stakeholders and departments to provide thought and technical design leadership with respect to transitioning existing technology platforms from a single campus design, to a global, multi-campus design.
  • Provide expertise in technology solutions to support current and future business needs, and to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of IT services at the Tianjin campus.
  • Lead design sessions and workshops with appropriate administrative and academic departments to evaluate tradeoffs amongst design, risk, and technology decisions for the Tianjin campus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of global IT experience that includes at least 2 years of hands-on network engineering, DevOps engineering, or systems architecture
  • Demonstrated experience developing enterprise architectures to meet business requirements in higher education environments
  • Expertise with cloud solutions, virtual platforms, storage platforms, and operational management practices and frameworks
  • Understanding of security, risk and compliance frameworks, disaster recovery, high availability architectures, hardware, operating systems and networking connectivity
  • Expertise with enterprise technology issues and best practices, systems design, architecture and systems integration.
  • Strong working experience with sever hardware and server operating systems
  • Expert knowledge of Active Directory and Windows domain management
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP networking and associated security protocols
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining diverse  server hardware and associated equipment
  • Expert knowledge of VMware virtual server environments and storage area networks (SANs)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate time zone differences between New York and China, including the ability to travel to/from China
  • A demonstrated capability in working with global technical resources and personnel
  • Experience in managing external system and network integration vendors
  • The ability and interest in documenting processes and procedures
  • Excellent verbal communications skills with particular attention to tactfully communicating technical concepts to non-technical users and diplomatically achieving consensus on issues as they arise.
  • A facility for self-managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • A focus on promoting teamwork and maintaining a positive working environment
  • Chinese (Mandarin) fluency is a plus
