POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose & Summary:

Responsible for the continuous delivery and enrichment of Sheridan technology products and services. Work with Product Manager in the analysis of new and existing business processes and workflows to translate them into actionable technical requirements for review and approval by business stakeholders. Develop and maintain requirements as prioritized epics/issues within JIRA for action by the multiple development teams.

Sheridan’s technology products and services enhance our ability to attract new print prospects, retain existing print customers, and drive end-to-end supply chain efficiency.

Major Responsibilities:

Analysis and Configuration Management

  • Ownership of build management as implemented in JIRA with the goal of delivering a high degree of autonomy amongst multiple product lines across multiple companies.
  • Responsible for software configuration management via JIRA.
  • Serve on project teams to develop and implement new technology products or services.
  • Support Product Management in the collection, analysis and specification of requirements.  
  • Support Quality Assurance by completing use case analysis.  From time to time testing may be required.

  • Work with internal and geographically diverse team members to review, assess, schedule, and discuss the status of multiple initiatives through Atlassian toolset.

  • Use proven Sheridan project management tools and best practices to define and manage business needs, objectives, scope, deliverables, requirements, success criteria, costs, constraints, timeline, project organization and resource requirements, and status reporting.

  • Develop systems based on standards set by Sheridan IT, where appropriate.

    Project Leadership – Assume the role of Scrum Master, guiding the team through all aspects of Agile Development methodology; including but not limited to, Roadmapping, Backlog Grooming, Epic and Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-Ups, and Retrospectives.

  1. Knowledge sharing – Share knowledge of new technologies, techniques, and best practices with other project teams, and across Sheridan companies.  Assist peers at other Sheridan companies, where sharing and reapplying software technology is appropriate.

  2. Offer direction and perspective – Evaluate justifications for major and cross-company technology projects, review assumptions, and ensure projects move the company along a proper technology path.  Once a decision is made, fully support the leadership team in implementing and using selected software, equipment, and procedures.

  3. Coordinate efforts – Develop or reapply best practices across Sheridan companies.  Use these practices as a foundation for continued encouragement and success at all locations.

Knowledge and Skills
    • Exceptional, proven technical and system development skills.  Experience with development environments such as: JIRA, Microsoft .Net, PHP, JavaScript, SQL databases, Google Analytics or similar BI tools, Drupal, Microsoft Office, etc.  

    • Experience with software development life cycle models such as Agile, Waterfall and Lean.  

    • Passionate about increasing productivity through the evolution of software development model.  

    • Experience in UI/UX design.  

    • Strong technical analysis skills in system design and user stories/requirements specifications.  

    • Strong skills in web-based platforms.  

    • Experience with business analysis and workflow optimization.  

    • Experience in evaluation and selection of technical products and services.  

    • Experience in managing technology projects.  Competent and comfortable with project management tools like Gantt charts, timelines, budget tracking, and performance metric charts.  Certified Scrum Master (CSM) is a plus.  

    • Creativity & innovation skills to take a broad view, look for meaningful connections, translate new ideas into workable solutions, and encourage others to do the same.  

    • Initiative and follow-through to get going on important priorities, overcome obstacles, take appropriate risks, and keep moving toward goals.  Ability to handle multiple priorities well.  

    • Strong technical, interpersonal and influencing skills to successfully perform the planning, reporting, and administrative responsibilities of this position.  

    • Strong ability to work and thrive in a collaborative team format.  

    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in information technology, publishing, graphic arts, printing, or related information systems or engineering fields.  

    • Four or more years of experience in relevant business fields. Two or more years in a leadership role.  

    • Strong knowledge of the direction of information technologies. Knowledge of publishing, print production, prepress is a plus.

      An annual performance evaluation will be conducted by reporting authority.
