Sr. IT Engineer, macOS
Description
As a Sr. IT Engineer, you will be part be part of the End User Engineering Global Team. The team is made up of approximately twenty professional distributed around the globe. The team has a variety of background and expertise within the End User area (Client Platform, Mobility & Unified Communication Collaboration). The team is faced with complex issues and needs, where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, including technology dependencies, inter-organizational impact, and systems thinking approaches.
You will contribute and technically lead challenging projects which require deep technical knowledge and infrastructure engineering skills. You will be accountable and responsible for decision-making in technical design, build and testing, in the context of the projects /activities to which you will be assigned. You will exercise sound judgment, balanced with an effective consultative engagement of key stakeholders, in the methods and techniques chosen to obtain the desired results.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Contribute to determining success criteria for the evaluation of promising solutions/technologies via Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and feasibility studies as they relate to meeting Roche’s business needs.
Architect, design, build, test, and deploy (first-time) integrated, resilient and reliable solutions in multiple solution areas across the entire End User space.
Manage small-to-medium sized technical teams for specific objectives in medium-to-large initiatives (projects, lifecycle work, PoCs, etc.) and to provide the expert guidance required to drive technical developments in these initiatives.
Map the technology roadmaps into portfolio projects/activities and to estimate resources, dependencies, risks, and timelines required to deliver these projects/activities successfully.
Contribute and/or write position papers, white papers, best practices and use cases for their infrastructure solution space.
Passion for staying abreast of operational challenges and opportunities related to End User solution space
Ensure solutions implemented fit within the Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable.
This position is not eligible for relocation.
Who You Are
6+ years experience of supporting macOS in one or more multinational work environments as an Engineer in End User solutions
Have a CCA, CJA or CCE Certificate or equivalent experience
Fluent in speaking and working English (this is mandatory for us), and if you are able to communicate in German, Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin). We will appreciate this as a plus.
Proven project and time management skills
As result of working in a global organization some travel will be required, and ability to work across multiple timezones, including some on-call and extended hours work will happen. That's why we offer flexibility
In depth knowledge in at least two technology areas within their Infrastructure Solution space and a working knowledge of a majority of the solutions in their space. They have a detailed understanding of how the IT infrastructure in their areas of responsibility impacts the respective business processes.
You must also have in-depth experience in:
Implementing and architecting information systems and specifically at least 5+ years around macOS in the enterprise
Troubleshooting macOS and all the technologies it uses. (DNS, DHCP, Wireless and Wired Networking, TCP IP)
macOS: Hardware troubleshooting, Software distribution, Imaging deployment Settings Management (MDM/MCX)
Jamf Pro/Casper and/or MDM processes and tools
Bash Scripting
Apple enterprise services, including APNs, App Store, Apple Software Update, DEP, VPP
Training end users and fellow tech support resources
Plus:
Experience with Swift, Python or Ruby
Advanced Excel / Google Spreadsheet capabilities for data analysis (Pivot Tables / Pivot Charts / Dynamic Ranges)
Healthcare/Pharma industry experience is a plus
