ABOUT YOU:

We are seeking an experienced and highly technical sales engineer to work with our sales team in providing technical solutions for customers based on Haivision’s portfolio of advanced network video encoding/streaming and media delivery and management platforms. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, technically proficient individual with experience in designing and deploying a range of IT networking and media delivery solutions. This person will own the technical aspects of solution design leading up to the sale, including discovery of customer requirements, design of specific solutions proposed, and documentation of the proposed solution. A significant portion of the role also will be to act as a Haivision evangelist and trainer at trade shows and in the field, making communication and presentation skills essential. Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate, train, and evangelize for Haivision technical solutions to customers and partners at:


    • Customer meetings.
    • Regional partner events.
    • Industry trade shows (NAB, InfoComm, IBC, etc.).
  • Own the technical pre-sale effort on customer projects including:
    • Building solution and workflow design and documentation.
    • Support of customer loans/and proof-of-concept projects.
    • RFI/RFP Responses and Proposals.
  • Assist Solution Delivery Manager and Field Service Engineers with deployment project scoping.
  • Assist with on-site support and technical account management as needed.
  • Ensure Customer Delight with Haivision Solutions.
  • This position requires up to 50% domestic and international travel.
  • This position will operate from a home-office.


Professional and Personal Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.  Foreign equivalent degrees are acceptable.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a highly technical pre-sale solution design role focused on network video streaming systems, digital broadcast production/post-production, or enterprise video delivery solutions.
  • Superior written/verbal communication and presentation skills that enable the candidate to:
    • Clearly articulate technical solutions to business and technical decision makers, as well as senior executives.
    • Train technical and non-technical personnel on the use of Haivision solutions.
    • Win the confidence of technical personnel at customers and partners.
  • Self-motivated, with a proven ability to take initiative and overcome obstacles.
  • A proven history of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think “outside of the box.”
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals both internal and external, from senior executives to technical decision makers.

 

Technical Competencies

  • Experience with the design and deployment of streaming media services across complex network topologies.
  • Experience with network and computing security standards and best practices in government and civilian applications.
  • Some combination of the following:
    • Experience managing Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory infrastructures.
    • Experience managing Linux or Mac OSX server infrastructures.
    • Experience with local and wide area network administration and troubleshooting (routing/switching, wireless LAN, firewall security).
  • Familiarity with technical issues surrounding audio and video delivery over terrestrial microwave and satellite IP networks, desirable.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting network media streaming solutions including live transcoding servers, Internet streaming solutions with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), or multicast video distribution.
  • Firm understanding of real-time media transport protocols such as RTP, MPEG2-TS, RTMP, HLS and MPEG-DASH.
  • Familiarity with video compression technologies, such as MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264, and HEVC.
  • Understanding of web development or scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or various command shells, desirable.
