Early Engineer at YC Startup

Twine is an early-stage and fast-growing startup - we're backed by YCombinator, and we just raised several $MM from Fortune 500 CEOs and former heads of engineering at Square and Facebook

You'll be part of our early engineering team. We're looking for exceptional people who want to design and build amazing products with a small, high-energy team in the heart of NYC.

We're hiring for both full-stack and front-end positions.

ABOUT TWINE

Twine helps people find jobs they love inside their companies. And we help companies keep their best employees by moving them to better-fitting positions. Twine makes internal labor markets more efficient with a predictive engine for employee success.

Our application is built and running in production for our paying clients. We use Django/Postgres/AWS, including a custom-built data/ETL pipeline for processing jobs and employee data through our recommendation engine. This engine is built in Python and uses pandas/scikit-learn. Our front-end is built in custom HTML/CSS/JS, with some canvas and d3.js

RESPONSIBILITIES

You'll design, build, and deploy Twine's core product.

You'll learn directly from users to customize and improve our existing tool, and you'll architect new systems from scratch as we experiment with new features. You'll manage projects across the stack, but with a focus on building a scalable back-end and application layer. You'll have impact and ownership over significant technology and roadmap decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS -- Required for success

• You have 3+ years of software development experience building data-intensive web applications.  
• You're an expert in building scalable back-end systems and architectures.  
• You're self-directed: you take full ownership of projects, from planning to QA/launch.  
• You have a high attention to detail and take pride in your work.  
• You can communicate technical concepts clearly and succinctly, orally or in writing.  
• You work hard.

QUALIFICATIONS -- Correlated with (but not required for) success

• You're very familiar with Python, particularly data processing systems.  
• You've worked on enterprise-grade applications.
• You've completed a BS/MS in CS or related field at a top university.
• You're a former technical co-founder or early startup employee.
