This role will give the applicant the opportunity to join the Financial Data Engineering (FDE) team at American Express. The FDE team drives critical financial systems across the enterprise.  

This position will be a key contributor in forging the team's continued success. Candidate must possess strong skills in multiple technologies and have the ability to learn new technologies quickly.  

Focus will be on taking a cross cutting horizontal perspective of the portfolio and identifying optimization opportunities.

Daily tasks involve the following:

Managing scrum teams which perform:

·      Creating ETL jobs using technologies such as Informatica and Talend

·      Working with the Oracle Financial Services Analytical Applications (OFSAA) product

·      Writing stored procedures for Oracle DB’s

·      Working with complex data models

·      Developing Strategic Roadmaps for the portfolio

·      Driving critical projects to a successful outcome

·      Working to enhance overall availability of all platforms

·      Finding opportunities to inject modern technologies into existing solutions in order to improve: performance, maintainability, scalability, etc…

·      Communicating accurate timelines to ensure that new capabilities are rolled out on time

·      Research new technologies which the group could use and perform proper proof of concept testing

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required Skills/Qualifications:

·      Operated as a Technical PM for 5+ years

·      5+ years of hands on ETL Coding

·      5+ years of hands on Stored Procedure Coding

·      5+ years coding in Java

·      Experience building large scale applications which process millions/billions of records

·      Exposure to architectural frameworks: TOGAF, UML, etc…

·      Experience with using multiple open source technologies

·      Experience with Linux

·      Ability to learn new technologies quickly

Preferred Additional:

·      Experience with OFSAA

·      Experience with large data warehouses (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema)
