Job Description

Fast-growing high-tech data company in oil and gas industry seeks a Director of Software Development to join a talented team and take overall responsibility to design, develop, maintain, and improve data and web-based business information systems and client applications. JP3 is a rapidly growing company that has introduced a revolutionary new NIR spectroscopy-based system that measures composition and physical properties simultaneously, in-line and in real-time, of crude oil, NGL and natural gas. The candidate will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of all data systems and supporting applications that collect, store, analyze, and visually display this data within JP3 and to our customers. This includes the management of JP3’s remote Development Team and local resources as well as some internal programming. Of critical importance is the continual strengthening, monitoring and expansion of JP3’s infrastructure and security programs as well as expansion of the vision of using real-time data for transactional purposes built on blockchain technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, first-line responsibility for the performance, integrity and security of all data systems as well as internal and external applications;
• Work with the JP3 team, especially Sales, Engineering and Operations, to understand both internal and external requirements and use these to develop reliable, well-designed, user-friendly applications;
• Manage JP3’s remote Software and Applications Development Team and coordinate hardware and security issues with outsourced IT group;
• Oversee and manage all aspects of JP3’s proprietary analyzer data and databases, including security, structure, communications, import/export of data, backups, and the like;
• Manage the continual improvement program to ensure that hardware, database design, application response and reliability, and monitoring services scale with company growth;
• Perform preliminary troubleshooting and triage of data and application issues, and then pursue long-term solutions to these issues;
• Work with JP3’s IT department and external resources to enhance and expand, in a continual manner, all data and application security policies and practices;
• Provide leadership and vision regarding the direction and growth of the company’s data services and software solutions offerings to customers in the oil and gas industry.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proficient at managing teams of software developers across multiple locations globally;
• Comfortable with the responsibility for the integrity, security and protection of all of the company’s proprietary data;
• Possesses strong software process and management skills;
• At least three years’ experience in application development, as an individual contributor, in two or more of the following areas: database, web, desktop, mobile, industrial equipment;
• At least three years’ experience managing Agile software development;
• Possesses working knowledge of MySQL or similar relational database including a proficiency in SQL;
• Experience with or working knowledge of MATLAB and LabWindows/CVI;
• Demonstrated ability to translate application requirements and visionary ideas into finished projects that are completed on time, on budget and to high standards of performance;
• Enjoys occasional time in the field to gain familiarity with JP3 systems as our customers use them;
• Unswerving commitment to meeting deadlines and customer service;
• Strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work with multiple technical groups;
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, relaxed, high-tech environment;
• Adept at working directly with end-use clients, executive management teams and Board of Directors.
