Our team is responsible for implementing a globally distributed reporting and analytics infrastructure built on top of the Google Cloud Platform. As a Staff Engineer you will be responsible for guiding the design of this reporting platform, identifying scaling issues early and architect solutions around them, negotiate product features to avoid problems, and proactively advocate and educate colleagues in good software engineering practices.  A Staff Engineer is typically the “go-to” person on team, and leverages their experience to build up the other members of the team.

  • Work closely with product teams designing features that can scale with the company
  • Find new and innovative ways to collect and aggregate terabytes of data that are generated each and every day
  • Design fault tolerant, high availability systems that can elegantly deal with disruptions in service
  • Build a platform that will be the foundation for both our customer facing reporting features and internal product analytics.

What you bring to the role:

  • Development experience with Google’s Cloud Dataflow or Apache Beam preferred, or experience in similar technologies like Spark Streaming, Apache Storm, or Google MillWheel
  • Experience designing and implementing successful streaming data processing systems
