The Job:

We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join Aces, a new, well-funded portfolio company in NYC. Aces is a contextual social messaging platform enabling users to share content via a seamless, engaging experience. Users can send, archive, sort, manage, and react to multimedia messages instantly while also discovering social and cultural trends across their networks. Leveraging data and machine learning, Aces redefines the concept of relevance in social media.

As a Data Scientist your job will be to partner with the Product, Design, and Engineering teams to create and apply data-driven approaches to solving business and product problems while also identifying opportunity areas. As an early member of the team, you will take a leading role in influencing and shaping the platform. You should have a solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and be excited to leverage those to drive product features. Ideally, you have experience in social media and/or consumer-facing mobile technology. If this sounds interesting, please read on and submit your resume!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating and testing hypotheses to better understand how users interact with content and each other
  • Evaluating, defining, and monitoring key metrics and understanding root causes of change
  • Understanding recommendation engines, ecosystems, user behavior, short-term needs, and long-term trends
  • Presenting and applying analyses and findings to shape product roadmap
  • Building models to understand user interaction and predict the effect of product and business decisions
  • Creating and analyzing reports and dashboards
  • Regularly communicating status updates and experiment results as well as proactively proposing new initiatives and approaches
  • Partnering with and managing external vendors as needed

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in quantitative analysis and data science, preferably with a consumer-facing product focus.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics or other technical/quantitative field (graduate degree is a plus)
  • Solid understanding of statistics, machine learning, and user behavior
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python
  • Experience querying big data with languages such as SQL
  • Experience with statistical software
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
  • Ability to communicate analyses in a clear and effective manner to senior-level audiences
