The Company.  Formed in 2016 by founders with deep expertise in data, analytics, marketing, and media, RightJoin is an early stage, next generation Data-as-a-Service and consumer analytics company that helps fast-growing, medium-sized brands become more effective in their marketing initiatives. Our service leverages sophisticated analytic techniques, previously only employed by the world’s largest companies, combined with top-quality consumer data, packaged in a format designed for mainstream marketers, at an affordable price, to help clients truly understand their customer base, optimize engagement, and find new customers.  Our automated processes and proprietary cloud-based technology platform make it easy, fast, and affordable for clients to improve their marketing performance.  Our clients see us as marketing data scientists, making big data techniques affordable and accessible.

The Opportunity.  Using established RightJoin tools and procedures as well as problem-solving skills, the Data Analyst manages the production of insights and segments for RightJoin’s clients.  Specifically, the Analyst analyzes data submitted by clients, requests and receives consumer data from RightJoin’s data partners, combines data from these different sources to form analytic datasets, and then applies established analytic procedures to generate insights, reports, statistical models, and visualizations. Then, working on RightJoin’s platform and with our partners, he/she uses the insights derived from RightJoin’s analytic procedures to build or select data segments for delivery to our clients or their media partners.

  • Knowledge of statistics and quantitative techniques at a theoretical as well as a practical level, with ability to apply these techniques appropriately, and to employ tests to ensure inferences made from data are valid
  • An orientation in his/her work towards completeness and precision, with the ability to review and correct his/her work so as to yield client-ready end products
  • An ability to manage a portfolio of responsibilities and projects, structuring work and reprioritizing so as to manage expectations and establish and meet deadlines
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to do the right thing

In order to succeed in this role, you will need to

  • Be Flexible In an early stage company, priorities shift quickly, and you will need to be part of making the company responsive and adaptive
  • Be Creative We are applying established procedures to solve familiar problems, but often we have the opportunity to tackle a new problem, one that will make a great addition to our toolkit of solutions – once we solve it!  We need people who thrive on this type of challenge.
  • Take a ‘Learning’ Approach When you solve a problem for the first time, it is important not merely to solve it well, but to capture the way you solved it, and share that learning with the team.  Also, take a learning approach to failure.  Mistakes are inevitable and costly, but they are often our greatest opportunity to learn.  Don’t waste a good mistake by failing to extract the learning it contains.
  • Be Thorough We cannot assume the data is right; make sure the data makes sense before you invest too heavily in its implications. Cultivate habits to protect yourself from embracing an expected or exciting result while overlooking problems or inconsistencies hiding in the detail.
  • Be Careful Consistently follow safe practices to protect the confidentiality of our data. Our clients are counting on it.
  • Be a Great Teammate RightJoin operates as a closely collaborating, multidisciplinary team.  Get help, give help.  Be accountable for your commitments, share your ideas, listen to your colleagues.

Terms of Employment

  • The position is expected to be full time, but could begin with a period of part time employment if that suited the successful candidate
  • Geographic location is flexible, but the Bay Area, Colorado, or New York are somewhat preferred.  The successful candidate must be able to work effectively and communicate easily from home; if the candidate is based in the San Francisco area, office-based location will likely become an option within six months.
  • Compensation will depend on experience and your requirements, but will be competitive
