Fullstack Engineer @ Gnarbox

We believe in making the creative process easier for anyone with a camera.  Our first product, GNARBOX, is a pocket-sized computer that can backup, edit, and manage media faster than ever before. Whether you’re on the slopes, trails or in the studio, GNARBOX provides the tools and platform necessary for editing and sharing photos and videos at the speed of life.

The Role:

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join us, become a core member of the team and have a tremendous impact on the product and trajectory of the company.

The goal is to create an elegant mobile UI, building powerful APIs with optimization in mind, solving problems of all kinds, and creating solutions for users and fellow developers.  

About You:

• Have a passion for building software that is beautiful. You always take pride in your work.

• Have strong computer science fundamentals and software development skills.

• Adhere to best practices in engineering and scrum methodologies.

You Will:

• Build new features for our mobile application and mobile media server.

• Work with a wide range of processes and systems to create a seamless experience for the end user.

• Continue our tradition of high engineering standards and performant code.

• Contribute to our team’s processes and culture.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

• 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer

• BS in CS or similar technical field

• Advanced knowledge of some of these and a readiness to dig into the rest:

• Javascript / React Native / Redux

• Golang

• RethinkDB

• Android / Java

• Objective-C / Swift

• C / C++

Bonus Points For:

• Transcoding and video codec expertise, particularly h.264, h.265, mpeg4, mpeg2ts

• Experience with scalable databases for real-time applications such as RethinkDB

• You’ve hacked on embedded devices: Arduino / RaspberryPi / BeagleBone / etc.

• You’ve built a custom version of Android OS (e.g. CyanogenMod)

• You’ve worked with Android NDK and LibStageFright

• A love for photo and video editing, and a passion for outdoor activities

• Contributions to, or an interest in, open source projects
